Carey is a partner in GALLINA LLP'S Roseville office. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master of Science degree in Taxation. Carey began his public accounting career in 2002 working in the Los Angeles and Sacramento offices of one of the "Big Four" accounting firms.
He is experienced in a wide variety of industries, but specializes in professional services, healthcare, construction, real estate, and retail. Carey focuses his expertise on issues related to the taxation of closely held businesses and passthrough entities such as S-Corporations, Partnerships, and Limited Liability Companies. He is experienced in multi-state taxation, entity formation and dissolution, and mergers and acquisitions. Carey also uses his tax expertise to advise GALLINA's clients through tax controversy, private letter rulings, complex transactions and tax minimization strategies.
Carey's in-depth understanding of the numerous federal and state tax credits and incentives is just one of the many ways he helps GALLINA's clients save money so that they may put it to better use growing their businesses. In particular, Carey focuses on the Research & Development tax credits, Energy tax credits and California Enterprise Zone tax credits.
Carey says, "I particularly enjoy advising the owners of small and mid-sized companies as they grow and face new opportunities and challenges in the marketplace." In addition, Carey says, "My clients count on me to provide responsive and personalized service. My goal is to help make their business a success while minimizing their tax burden."
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA).
Carey enjoys running, waterskiing, golfing, and spending time with his wife Melanie, and their children Conner, Courtney, Lauren, and Madeline.
